Lyves has been a bit quiet of late. Since she impressed with a couple of early outings over a year ago now, the enigmatic Londoner - real name Francesca Bergami - left her job, retreating to her family's Italian hometown to focus solely on what she does best; making beautifully brooding and soulful R&B. It's no surprise its predecessor has clocked-up over 300k plays, as 'Darkest Hour' sees Bergami's stunningly seductive vocal once again pour over blissful piano-lines and elegant production - a duty she takes on alongside Crada in this latest cut. "Tread carefully" she pines with effortless poise, a warning shot as powerful as it is sultry. It's good to have Lyves back from the darkness and if this is anything to go by, there's plenty more to come. - G.O'B.
